Five padel courts across Sri Lanka — two in Colombo, two on the Galle coast, one in Matara. Here's what each one is actually like.
Where to Play Padel in Sri Lanka (2026): Every Court Worth Knowing
Padel has picked up quickly in Sri Lanka over the last couple of years. Courts have opened in Colombo, along the Galle coast, and down in Matara. The sport has gone from something you'd only hear about from people who'd played in Europe to something you can actually book on a Tuesday evening in Battaramulla. If you haven't played before, it's essentially tennis on a smaller enclosed court, played in doubles — easier to pick up than tennis, harder to put down.
Five venues, spread from Colombo to Matara.
Padel House Colombo
Padel House Colombo is one of the easier courts to get to from central Colombo, and Sri Lanka's first dedicated padel venue. An hour runs LKR 5,000. Book through the Padel House app before you go.
Best for: Colombo locals who want a regular court without a long drive
Location: Colombo
Why go: central, easy to book, cheapest entry point in the city
The Padel Club Colombo — Battaramulla
The Padel Club Colombo in Battaramulla is the same price as Padel House at LKR 5,000 per hour, and a reasonable drive from most parts of the city. If you're based east of Colombo, in Rajagiriya, Battaramulla, or Kotte, this is probably the closer of the two.
Best for: players on the eastern side of Colombo, anyone who wants a consistent local court
Location: Battaramulla, Colombo District
Why go: same price as city options, more convenient if you're not in central Colombo
Good Story Club — Ahangama
Good Story Club in Ahangama has two panoramic padel courts alongside a gym, spa, and restaurant. Coaching is available, and the courts are a core part of what the venue offers. Sessions are LKR 9,000 per hour.
The setting is more relaxed than Colombo. Ahangama draws surfers and weekenders, and the crowd at Good Story tends to be people who want to keep playing while they're on the coast. If you're already spending time in Galle or Ahangama, it's an easy addition to the trip.
Best for: people already on the Galle coast, weekenders, anyone combining a surf trip with something off the beach
Location: Ahangama, Galle District
Why go: two panoramic courts, coaching available, relaxed coastal setting
Tropic Padel — Unawatuna
Tropic Padel opened in October 2024 at Araliya Beach Resort in Unawatuna. It's the most organised club on the south coast: coaching, racket rentals, regular tournaments, and community sessions. Sessions are LKR 8,000 per hour.
The club is right at Unawatuna beach. If you've been there a few days and the beach-to-restaurant loop is getting old, a few hours here sorts that out.
Best for: people staying in Unawatuna or Galle, beginners who want coaching, anyone after a more structured club environment
Location: Araliya Beach Resort, Unawatuna, Galle
Why go: proper club setup with coaching and tournaments, beachside location
Villa Verner Padel Court — Polhena, Matara
Villa Verner is in Polhena, Matara, with an enclosed doubles court on-site. Polhena Beach is a short walk away. Sessions are LKR 10,000 per hour.
It's not a drop-in venue. Bookings are via WhatsApp, and cash is the expected payment. Worth the extra planning if you're heading down to Matara.
Best for: people staying in or passing through Matara, those who want a court away from the city
Location: Polhena, Matara
Why go: quiet, close to Polhena Beach, southernmost court on the list

A few things worth knowing
The two Colombo courts are the cheapest. At LKR 5,000 per hour, Padel House and The Padel Club are well below anything on the south coast. If you want to try the sport without spending much, start there.
Prices are per court, not per person. Split across four players and it's quite reasonable. Split across two and it gets expensive fast.
The Galle coast has two venues within 30 minutes of each other. Good Story Club in Ahangama and Tropic Padel in Unawatuna are on the same stretch of coast. If you're spending a weekend down there, you could play at both.
Book ahead for the south coast. The Colombo courts are easier to walk in on short notice. For Galle and Matara, call or message first, especially on weekends.
Padel is doubles. You need four players. If your group is short, check whether the venue runs open sessions where you can join others.
Frequently asked questions

How much does padel cost in Sri Lanka?
LKR 5,000 per hour at both Colombo courts. The south coast runs LKR 8,000 to LKR 10,000. That's per court. Split it four ways and it's more reasonable than it looks.

Plan your game
Pick the court closest to where you already are. The Colombo ones if you're in the city, the Galle coast ones if you're on a south coast trip, Villa Verner if you're in Matara.
